The cutest coffee shop! I had a white chocolate and blackberry latte and the quality of the coffee shined through! It was perfect :)

Responsibly sourced coffee, house-made chai, smoothies, and bagels in a cozy, art-filled stop between the Nantahala Gorge and town.
Cardinal Coffee sits on the corner of Needmore Road, right on Highway 74 between the Nantahala Gorge and downtown Bryson City. For a lot of travelers it's the first coffee coming out of the gorge or the last one heading in. The beans are responsibly sourced from around the world, and the menu hits all the bases: espresso, drip, cold brew, smoothies, and tea. The house-made dirty vanilla chai earns repeat orders. An oat-milk latte with white chocolate and toasted marshmallow is the move if you want something sweeter. On the food side, bagels are the staple (the jalapeno one has fans), served with their own butter and cream cheese. Smoothies start with frozen banana and let you build from there. The room is small and warm, hung with local art and stocked with little extras like pottery mugs and beeswax candles. There's free Wi-Fi, a private lot out front, and enough quiet to settle in with a book or laptop. It's an easy, mellow stop to bookend a day on the river. Pull in, caffeinate, carry on.

I stopped in for coffee while my buddies and I were traveling by motorcycle along the Smokey 500. The staff was welcoming, and quite knowledgable about some obscure local sights. The coffee was excellent, and the interior was very cool.

Amazing coffee

I have driven past this coffee shop many times, and finally had the chance to stop. I like to try new things, so I got the Golden Latte. It had turmeric and other spices in it. It was very unique. The dining room had many seating options. They also offer outdoor seating. I was a little disappointed in the baristas. They were more concerned with talking to each other, than waiting on customers. Can’t fault the coffee shop for them. Just wanted to make the owners aware.
